Guiyang is Cold

Really darn cold.

Steam comes off my pee.

Outside, we don't have snow or anything pretty, instead we just have mud that froze.  Guiyang, I love her, is known for being a very dirty city. When I say we have frozen mud, I mean we have it everywhere.  I cannot walk ANYWHERE without risk of sliding on frozen mud.  This morning, walking up the mud frozen steps to my apartment, I fell. Twice. Down the stairs. The second time, defeated, I sat for a moment with a bruised butt on frozen mud covered stairs, my hands red from the cold, and my teeth chattering more out of frustration than the actual temperature, and then it struck me that it's no wonder the Chinese don't use salt on ice.  Clearly they don't know that salt on ice would prevent people from having to fall down the stairs twice because, let's face it, the Chinese cannot access Wikipedia.  If the Great Firewall of China allowed its citizens to access Wikipedia, I'm sure that people would know salt kicks the bloody hell out of ice and that salt would eliminate the frozen mud problem the entire city is faced with.  If Widipedia were accessible, suddenly every woman in China wearing high heeled shoes would no longer be at risk for poking someone's eye out after falling down.  If Wikipedia were accessible, more jobs would be provided because we'd need people to lay the salt.  If Wikipedia were available my butt wouldn't be so sore right now and I wouldn't fear frost bite on my finger tips.   But Wikipedia is not accessible. And neither is my blog. And my steps continue to be coated in frozen mud. And steam continues to rise off my pee. And Guiyang is really cold.
